About Us

Superior Fencing Academy was founded by Philip Contardo in October of 1996 with a mission to provide high-quality, inclusive sport fencing opportunities for youth and adults across Northwestern Ontario. As the region’s only fencing club, we are committed to making this dynamic sport accessible to all. ​We follow the Long-Term Development in Sport Model to support athletes at every stage — from first steps on the piste to competitive performance — emphasizing physical literacy, personal growth, and a lifelong love of sport. Beyond athletic skills, our programs foster self-confidence, mental discipline, and resilience, helping each athlete develop not only as a competitor but as a person.
